Abstract

The familiar phrase “under new management” aptly covers the current situation at the UC Davis brewing program. It began with Dr. Michael Lewis (a Welsh gentleman) in 1962 to 1996, who was followed by Dr. Charlie Bamforth (an English gent) from 1998 to 2018. Now at the helm is Dr. Glen Fox, another blow-in, this time from Australia. The UC Davis brewing program is seen as one of the go-to programs in the United States for undergraduates keen to get a start in the industry, graduate students with an interest to add to some of the still unknowns in brewing science, and organizations wanting to collaborate with a well-established university research platform. The following discussion highlights some of but a few of the great outputs from the UC Davis program.
