Abstract

A beer recipe does not stop after brew day. The recipe should encompass the entire brewing process and not simply what is mixed or added to make sweet wort. This paper discusses a way to effectively track and document fermentation analytics, visualize data, strive for continuous improvement through trials, and help the brewer create and implement a quality control plan for fermentation. A central concept for this is the “fermentation recipe." This is not a formal instruction of best practices for fermentation but a way to create traceability, consistency, and equal attention to the most important phase in a beer's journey to finished product.
