Abstract
The most common issue a manager or safety committee member faces is getting employees to comply with safety rules. Compliance in safety and all brewery best practices is rooted in the brewery’s specific culture. Every company has a company culture, whether management tried to shape its growth or not. You cannot create a safety culture out of thin air—you have to understand the culture that already exists at your brewery and improve employee communication and education. Safety committees can be extremely helpful, but you need to structure them in the way that works best for your brewery. If you want your safety program and your entire brewery to be successful, you have to make sure you are providing a good foundation for your employees, and that foundation is your company culture.
