Abstract
Proper evaluation and selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) is a key component of workplace health and safety. While PPE should never represent the first option for hazard mitigation, it is important to know when PPE is appropriate for a given scenario and what kind to use. This article discusses employer responsibilities regarding PPE evaluation and offers guidance on key selection considerations for PPE commonly used in the brewing environment. This article also provides tips and tricks for successful implementation of the PPE policy, including how to ensure buy-in through employee inclusion and periodic review.
