Abstract
Within the United States there is a lack of published safety standards and awareness of the dangers of operating biogas plants. This paper reviews the hazards and safety measures that operators should take to ensure a safe working environment. Hazards include flammable gases, oxygen entrainment/implosion, asphyxiation, and pressurization. The article wraps up with maintenance checklist and list of do’s and don’ts.
