Master Brewers Statement
Regarding Racism

The startling brutality behind the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd highlighted systemic racism in American society and have brought heartfelt condemnation of the problem from people and organizations around the world. We are taking this moment to affirm the Master Brewers' rejection of racism and discrimination of any kind, to recommit to our members' Code of Professional Conduct, and to re-evaluate Master Brewers' methods and practices for fostering greater diversity within our own organization.

The success of the Master Brewers is dependent on the trust and confidence we earn from our members and supporting organizations. We gain credibility by adhering to our commitments, displaying honesty and integrity, and reaching our goals solely through honorable conduct. The Master Brewers is an organization committed to providing an environment free from discrimination of all types and from abusive, offensive, or harassing behavior, whether at district or association-wide gatherings, face-to-face or on-line.

We all deserve to work in an environment where we are treated with dignity and respect. The Master Brewers Association does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we strongly and actively strive to increase diversity and provide equal opportunity within brewing and its allied industries. We expect Master Brewers members to lead by example and civility in all places, public and professional.

Master Brewers admittedly has a long way to go to achieve our ideals as a diverse set of brewers and brewing industry professionals who collectively and individually contribute valuable thoughts, practices, and perspectives. We look forward to sharing new materials and recommendations for fostering and embedding greater equity, equality, and diversity into the framework of the Master Brewers.

Finally, we acknowledge that you may be struggling at this time. We send our utmost support to you.
