The Eight Annual Summer Social was another great success put on by the District Michigan. There were about 115 members, family and various beer enthusiasts that attended. The park is located on top of ancient sedimentary rocks, known as the Ledges. Rock outcroppings line the shores of the Grand River, which provide beautiful scenic views. Not only was their nature to admire, there was disc golf and the Ledges 2010 Classic Auto and Craft Show.
Hog Heaven, out of Kalamazoo, was the food caterer of choice again this year, and once again we were not let down by the superior food they served up for the Social. Pulled Pork, German Potato Salad, Fresh Fruit, Corn Casserole, and of course Apple Kuchen for dessert.
The greater part of the district social is the drawing for the Peter Blum Scholarship that is offered to 1 lucky member to use towards Beer School. This year’s winner is Marty Rapnicki, President of District Michigan and Brewer at Barts Brewery in Bay City. Second runner up to receive his MBAA dues paid in full for one year is Rik Dellinger from Bell’s Brewery. Congratulations guys.
