Distinguished Life Service Award

​2017 Recipient

Mike Sutton is currently vice president of sales at S.S. Steiner with primary responsibility for hop sales and technical support to the craft brewing industry. He began his brewing career as a brewing supervisor in 1979 working for Miller Brewing Co. in Fort Worth, Texas. Over the course of the past 38 years, Mike had the opportunity to work in various technical, leadership, and sales positions for four brewing industry leaders: Miller Brewing Co. (now MillerCoors), Froedtert Malt Corp. (now Malteurop), Coors Brewing Co. (now Molson Coors), and, for the past 13 years, S.S. Steiner, Inc. Mike is a graduate of the Siebel Institute International Diploma in Brewing Technology program and holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Salisbury University. He is a member of the American Society for Quality and American Society of Brewing Chemists. He has been a member of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA) since 1985, having held various positions including MBAA president in 2012.  

Criteria

The Distinguished Life Service Award recognizes members of the Master Brewers who have provided sustained and exceptional lifetime commitment and service to the association. The award is not automatically given each year, only in the years when there is an exceptional member who fits the criteria.
