Proper tuning of PID loops can have a great deal of impact on the
throughput, yield, and efficiency of your process. This presentation
will explain proper techniques for tuning various types of PID loops, as
well as the impact on your process of improperly tuned loops. 1) What
is a PID loop—Simple discussion of the components of a PID loop and how
they apply to the overall control process. Detailed but simple
explanation of how each term of a loop affects the operation of a PID
loop. 2) Process reaction—Discussion of how a process will react to a
properly and an improperly tuned loop. 3) Tuning—Basic step-by-step
approach to achieving optimal tuning results. 4) Dynamic parameters—Why
the dynamic substitution of tuning parameters may be required to provide
 optimal results in various processes.
