System at Sleeman Breweries Ltd.

Abstract
Flowmation�s brewing information system (BIS) and quality
information system (QIS) are being used successfully at Sleeman breweries
and have replaced paper-based systems in operations from the brewhouse to
delivery of beer to packaging. This has minimized the need for paper
reports and manually recorded data that do not reside in BIS or QIS. The
ability of BIS to track the production and inventory of beer from malt
ordering to delivery to the packaging lines has provided management and
operations teams with simple-to-use and immediate access to the
information they need to effectively run operations. Teams no longer need
to rely on their memories or those of others to access the information
they need to make decisions. Some informal spreadsheet-based systems still
exist but are being included in BIS where applicable. Using QIS, Sleeman
operators anywhere in the plant can access the quality information they
need as soon as it is recorded by the quality team. This system has
replaced the repetitive task of obtaining paper reports or calling the lab
and requesting results. All operations have immediate access to current,
reliable information, enabling teams to make better decisions faster than
was possible prior to deployment of the system.

S�ntesis
Tanto el sistema de informaci�n cervecera (BIS) como el sistema de
informaci�n de la calidad (QIS) de la Flowmation son utilizados
exitosamente en las cervecer�as Sleeman, reemplazando sistemas de papeleo
en todas las operaciones cerveceras hasta la entrega de la cerveza al
envasado. Esto ha minimizado la necesidad de reportes impresos y de datos
registrados manualmente. La habilidad del BIS en rastrear la producci�n y
el inventario de cerveza desde los pedidos de malta hasta la entrega de
cerveza a las l�neas de envasado, provee a los equipos operativos y
gerenciales acceso inmediato y de f�cil uso a la informaci�n que requieren
para operar eficazmente. Los equipos ya no necesitan confiar con sus
memorias, o las de otros, para acceder a la informaci�n necesaria para la
toma de decisiones. Algunos sistemas informales basados en hojas de
c�lculo todav�a existen pero est�n siendo incluidos en el BIS donde sea
aplicable. Al combinarlo con el QIS, los operadores de Sleeman en
cualquier lugar de la planta pueden acceder informaci�n sobre la calidad
tan pronto sea registrado por el equipo de aseguramiento de la calidad.
Este sistema ha reemplazado a las tareas repetitivas de obtenci�n de
reportes impresos o de llamar al laboratorio para pedir unos resultados.
Todos los operadores tienen acceso directo a informaci�n confiable
actualizada, permitiendo que tomen decisiones mejores y m�s r�pidamente
que antes.
