Maintaining quality standards in rising beer markets in developing countries.

Abstract
Thirty years of practical experience in the development of the brewing industry in Central and Southern Africa are recalled. Problems have been encountered to implement standards in local malt and hop products and maize adjuncts. The introduction of taster training, plant hygiene standard, recruitment and local training of brewers, quality awareness and antitaint measures are discussed.
