Abstract
A new portable carbon dioxide analyser (CARBOLYZER) based on pressure/temperature measurement is described after 2 years of development and testing in the brewing industry. The instrument electronically measures and displays temperature and pressure in a sample of beer and then calculates carbonation to a resolution of 0.03 volumes. Temperature, pressure and volume are sequentially displayed on a digital meter to reduce operator errors. The sample chamber is constructed of insulating delrin and lexan plastics. An electronic degasser electrode in the sample chamber avoids shaking.
