Abstract
In the storage of unmalted adjuncts, the only effective safeguard against birds and rodents is the use of enclosed silos. Protection against insect pests requires the use of approved insecticide treatment but insecticide residues remain a potential problem. To overcome this problem silos were modified to permit the recirculation through the grains of phosphine gas generated from Phostoxin tablets placed in box physically separated by ducts from the grains.
