Abstract
The Nolte solids flow meter, manufactured by Kingmann White Inc., Placentia, California, is described in brewery operation. This device operates by allowing grain to fall freely down a tube and to impact on to an impulse sensor whose displacement is measured by a pneumatic position transducer. The grain passes over the sensor and falls downward out of the meter. This type of meter appears to have been reliable in use as part of a system including pneumatic grain unloading and a 15000 lb/h Buhler mill and screen. The Nolte meter is both smaller and cheaper than conventional metering equipment.
