Computer applications and the brewing industry

Abstract
Paper is a discussion of electronic data processing (EDP) and process control digital computers with respect to .applications. Following a brief description of digital computers, the discussion turns to implementation of a problem into an automated procedure and the evolution of large scale applications, such as a management information system. Utilization of the process computer is demonstrated through development of mathematical models and incorporation into an industrial operation with a brief reference to continuous fermentation. The introduction of automation is recommended via a computer application survey to determine the feasibility of applications and to present an implementation to management.
