Abstract
The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides employees with an opportunity to seek assistance for a wide variety of personal problems e.g. alcoholism, drug addiction, marriage difficulties, emotional problems, family problems, financial difficulty, legal entanglements and psychiatric disorders. Three models are discussed; In-House, Consortium and In-House Counselling Program. The In-House model, in which the organisation concerned employs full-time staff to administer the EAP is discussed in detail. The advantages and disadvantages of each EAP model for employer, employee and union are tabulated.
