Course Objectives
Prepare for the Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) Diploma in Brewing Exam Module 1: Materials and Wort. This is an important qualification for any brewer aspiring to demonstrate her or his brewing knowledge and proficiency.
Prerequisites
The course is open to any candidate regardless of prior work or educational experience, although candidates need to be well grounded in science and mathematics and preferably have some exposure to professional brewing or an allied trade. While the completion of the IBD General Certificate in Brewing is helpful, it is not required.

Typical Diploma in Brewing candidates are team leaders, operational managers, and technicians.

David Taylor, is a former IBD chair of the board of examiners. He has many years of production, quality assurance, and product development experience in the U.K. brewing scene and has practical experience of brewing under license for a number of international brewing companies, involving many world-renowned brands. He was elected a fellow of IBD in 1995 and has been an member of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. He has been a regular contributor to the IBD’s training programs and has been an examiner for the institute’s qualifications for several years. Acting now as a brewing consultant, he maintains an active interest in industry research and development activities. David is well known on the international brewing conference and symposium circuit and has published and lectured worldwide on a wide range of brewing technology topics.
