Milwaukee District
District President Letter

April 2010

Greetings Fellow District Milwaukee Members,

Spring has sprung, and like the flowers and the trees, it is time to shake off the ice and snow and welcome in a new season. And this can only mean one thing: marveling at the life around us with a cold beer in hand!!!

I would like to thank you all for your continued support of our District. We are the Heritage District, and through your involvement we will continue to honor those that have brewed before us and welcome new members just starting their careers. We have the knowledge; we have the will; we have the beer. Need I say more?

On April 8 & 9, District Milwaukee sponsored a Hospitality Suite at the Craft Brewers Conference in Chicago. We were fortunate to have the monetary support of fourteen other Districts within MBAA, as well as generous donations of the liquid we all know and love. The Suite was an unequivocal success, with no fewer than 800 visitors over the two evenings (and likely many more – we lost count at 800!!!!) We offered a fantastic selection of sausage, cheese, and snacks to the attendees, as well as a wonderful variety of beers from all over the United States. District Milwaukee received rave reviews for our efforts from so many people during both evenings that we were humbled. I cannot stress enough that none of the accolades would have come without the tireless efforts of several members who have helped to make District Milwaukee what it is today. Those members deserve recognition here, and next time you see these people, please shake their hands, thank them, and hand them a cold one. Beside my wife Gretchen and me, these are the people:

Marge and Tom Volke
Dave and Kathy Radzanowski
John Kretsch
Linda Rastani

The fine folks from The Museum of Beer and Brewing
The Staff of the Siebel Institute of Technology, who kindly allowed us to receive and store beer at their facility for the Suite

I would also like to thank Rebecca Jennings, MBAA National Membership Chair, for her efforts and all the raffle items she carried around like Santa Claus on steroids. Thank you.

Our overwhelming success shows people from all areas of the industry that we are, and shall always be, the Master Brewers Association of the Americas.

I hope to see you all at our next District Meeting on May 20th at Malteurop in Milwaukee.

Cheers,

Kris Kalav
President, District Milwaukee
