The four day program will cover various aspects of feed, food and malting barley and will feature oral and poster presentations on topics ranging from production, to the recent advances in science and the end uses of barley.

This conference will be of interest to producers, researchers, brewers, marketers and end-users. Everyone is encouraged to participate and to pass this information on to colleagues and associates.

  • Spectroscopy workshop – Optek - Al Worley
  • Malt milling using 2 roll wet mills – Steinecker - Andrew Fratianni
  • Heat exchange and refrigeration – how to save on utility dollars - Alfa Laval - Stanley Foster
  • Growth in the Canadian alcoholic beverage market - Ron Subden
  • Water savings opportunities in the brewery – Enviro-tower- Don Toporowski
  • “Leading Change in Breweries” – Eric Candy
    The paper will cover the interrelationships between Leadership, Teambuilding and Change with a special focus on Culture and Problem Solving. The objective will be to promote discussion on the different approaches and a suggested optimal approach.
  • Energy Savings Workshop – Natural Resources Canada (Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation)
    A customized workshop for the industry that will provide information on how to calculate energy savings, where to look for savings, technologies/processes to save energy, areas of energy wastage that are usually ignored, creating business cases for energy savings projects as well as information on government funding or programs that are available to offset capital costs of energy savings projects.
