District NY Winter Meeting at Brooklyn Brewery
With a holiday meeting post-phoned due to busy schedules, District NY decided to greet the New Year and hold a Winter Meeting instead, meeting at the Brooklyn Brewery on Thursday, January 10. More than 45 attendees came from the growing number of breweries New York City and the metro New York area to enjoy an evening of fun, education, real NY pizza from Fornino, and beers from the Brooklyn Brewery, as well as samples of their own. Suppliers and friends were well represented, too, and copies of the Oxford Companion to Beer, supplied by Paul Battaglia of GEA, were auctioned off and signed by Brooklyn Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver. The technical presentation, Beer Stabilization with PPVP, was given by Andrew Fratianni of BASF Corp., the District NY Technical Chair, and on many occasions, he even managed to get to the punch line before laughing at his own jokes. He promised to do better in the new year and also announced the next District NY meeting will be at the ABInBev brewery in Newark, NJ, Friday March 22. Details will be provided shortly.
