Greetings !  Our Fall quarterly meeting will be at the Maine Beer Co !  Thank you to Maine Beer for hosting this event !

Clarifying and Stabilising Beer without Filtration

Nick Brading, Export Manager, Murphy & Son LTD

Nick will presenting on an introduction to the concept of using process aids to achieve star bright beer, such as carrageenan, auxiliary and isinglass finings.  This is a technical presentation about what process aids are, how they work and the factors present in beer that can influence their performance.

Nick graduated Brewing school from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Diploma in Malting & Brewing in 1983.  Completed a 4 years at the James Shipstone & Son Ltd, Brewers in Nottingham, England.  Worked next 10yrs  at the Ruddles Brewery in Langham, Rutland (near Leicester), passing his Master Brewer examinations in that time. Both breweries were traditional cask ale breweries.

Nick then joined Carlsberg Breweries in Copenhagen in 1997 to learn about international lager production and working a variety of technical brewing roles throughout Europe & Asia until 2004 when he returned to the UK to work at their Joshua Tetley Brewery in Leeds. This brewery closed soon after so he then joined Murphy & Son selling and promoting their unique range of brewery process aids and ingredients, developing their export market from 2009 onwards.

Mark will be presenting on Keg and Valve Safety- system design, how to recognize damaged parts and safety hazards

Mark has been working for Franke in sales and operations since 2009.  As the leading keg supplier in North America and the only keg supplier with it’s own keg repair operation, Mark has had the opportunity to see and analyze virtually every imaginable keg malfunction. Mark and the technical team at Franke are frequently called upon by their customers and other trade   organizations to evaluate keg failures, keg-related injuries, or to promote keg safety.
