Abstract
The first Technical Director was "Scotty" McFarlane, a pioneer in the Technology of Brewing. His contributions to the Industry were many including the first Practical Brewer as well as many technical papers. Dr. McFarlane was head of the Research Division of Canadian Breweries Limited in Toronto, Ontario. Back in 1961 at the Montreal Convention he presented the following excellent paper which might give all of us a little "food for thought".
