High-speed detection of improperly fabricated or sealed cans.

Abstract
The fact that all properly filled and sealed cans have a domed lid was used as the basis of two detection systems for faulty cans. The first system uses photoelectric sensing and solid state controls; the second replaces the photoelectric equipment with magnetic sensors. The magnetic sensor will detect variations in can height as small as 0.005 in. Both systems are described.
