Abstract
Color in beer packaging is becoming more important every year. Consumers are wanting, appreciating, and reacting to color more than ever before. Paper describes the development of a new dark glass for bottle manufacture. The technique entails using a standard amber, which is an iron sulfide color, and adding a small amount of metallic oxide which combines with the sulfides present to form an amber of great color density. Manufacturer's claims: The glass provides optimum protection against visible light while providing all the traditional flavor retention features of amber glass.
