Texas DistrictMBAA District Texas held its Spring weekend technical meeting on April 9-11, 2005Host brewery, SABMiller Fort Worth, scheduled the meeting to coincide with the city’s Arts Festival, with the hotel in the heart of the festival, and beautiful weather all weekend. Organizer Michele Amsterdam’s efforts were greatly appreciated in arranging the Hospitality Suite, terrific meals, and the welcome bags. Besides the important brewery sponsor, our vendor sponsors made the meeting a great success: Tyco Valves and Controls, JohnsonDiversey, Rahr Malting Company, World Minerals, Eagle Picher, GEA Tuchenhagen and Bray Valve and Controls. At the business meeting, good discussion on the District scholarship funds led to new direction being taken. Anheuser-Busch Houston brewery will host the next Spring meeting. At the technical meeting, Frank Rios, Safety Coordinator, SABMiller Brewery, Fort Worth, gave a presentation that was an overview of Safety in the Brewery. He was followed by Fritz Rahr, who discussed his family history and his new brewery in Fort Worth. The enterprise was founded in Fort Worth because the citizenry support local ventures well. For those not enjoying a round of golf, a fine lunch was followed by the rich Arts Festival and a tour and hospitality at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company. The conference closed with a wonderful dinner at Reata Restaurant, accompanied by fresh Miller beers. Awards to the golfers were made, and everyone was advised that the Summer District Texas Meeting in Kerrville is scheduled for July 22-24, 2005. |
