2004 SPRING TECHNICAL MEETING
Waco, Texas February 27, 2004
A great time was had by all at the Texas District Spring 2004 technical
meeting held on February 27th in Waco, Texas. A big THANKS goes out to
Bob Cragen, Plant Manager Owens Illinois for sponsoring this event. Owens
Illinois opened up their facilities for a tour of the glass making process.
It was very interesting and we all now have a better appreciation of what
goes into making bottles and the entire glass production process.
Owens Illinois also hosted the technical presentation. The speaker was
David Wendt from the Toledo Assurance of Quality group. David's presentation
was very informative and presented an overview of glass packaging the
glass manufacturing process including, glass composition, forming process,
annealing, surface treatment, and container inspection.
We would also like to thank our other sponsors, Briggs of Burton, Rahr
Malting Johnson Diversey, Haas Hops and Imco for their generous support.
Their contributions helped to make this event a success.
Thanks to those of you who were able to join us in Waco and we hope to
see everyone in Kerrville in August.
