MBAA President Gil Sanchez of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Candace Wallin of UC Davis, and Phil Phillips of Cargill Malt will deliver informative presentations on the role of the development/pilot brewery in our industry in research, product development, material qualification, and in education. Our Saturday morning meeting will be in a Mexican sala of Hacienda Santa Maria, and our special MBAA dinner will be enjoyed inside a working development brewery nearby. Lunch follows and then attendees will have time to visit the San Antonio Museum of Art (a famous pre-Prohibition brewery readily recognizable as such), the Alamo, or the Riverwalk. Golf may be offered, also. We’ll reconvene at a unique venue nearby for a special cuisine a la biere dinner created by Chef Brian Montgomery and Randy Lofton from Texas Farm to Table featuring local produce and specialties which are prepared with beer as an integral component, and where attendees will have fun pairing contributed beers from all of our breweries with the courses at hand. British brewing scientist Steve Livens from BRi will offer an entertaining dinner talk. El Tropicano Riverwalk El Tropicano Riverwalk is nestled in the banks of the San Antonio River, a full service, convention hotel that offers a state of the art fitness facility, pool, sundeck, a “dive in movie screen” and a lounge that overlooks the tranquil northernmost pedestrian walkways along the San Antonio River.
