Meeting Minutes
Sept 9, 2009

  • President Bob DuVernois called the meeting to order
  • Recognition was given to host Surly Brewing Co and owner Omar Ansari
  • Omar gave a brief history of the brewery
  • Bob welcomed all guests for the membership drive

    • Garth Mann - Herkimer
    • Peter - Worth Brewing
    • Joel Carlson - Great Waters
    • Dan Justin - Vince Park Brewing
    • Dale Jacobson - Rahr Malting
    • There was a guest from Rush River and from BASF as well
    • Doug Hoverson
  • Chris German read the minutes from the May meeting for Rebecca Jennings.
  • Motion was made to accept, seconded, approved
  • Chris German read the Treasurers report

  • Bob DuVernois spoke about the Scholarship committee
    • Information forthcoming
    • If there was a course to be taken in 2010, all candidates should contact Larry Chase for qualification requirements
  • Bob DuVernois gave a brief synopses of what District St. Paul/Minneapolis means to him
    • District is 102 years old
    • Lots of brewing history in this state.
    • We have 122 active members many of which are allied members
    • There is a wealth of technical knowledge among the members
    • There is wed information available to everyone
    • The technical quarterly is a good source of information - comes out 4 times a year
    • The district is looking for volunteers to help translate the old German written minutes into English. Doug Hoverson is helping with this project along side Rebecca Jennings
  • The MBAA National Convention is scheduled for Oct 1-4 in La Quinta,CA.
  • The Malting and Brewing Science Course is scheduled for Nov 1-12 in Madison, WI
  • The Brewing Summit will be held in Rhode Island in June of 2010. This is a joint effort between MBAA and ASBC. MBAA portion will be the later half of the Summit.
  • Meeting was adjourned and A Tasting for Quality presentation was given by Jennifer Helber of Lab Science, Etc.
