December 6, 1969 - The last regular meeting of District LaCrosse was held.
April 18, 1968 - At this meeting the method for drawing a winner of the complimentary dinner was changed from drawing playing cards to drawing members RSVP cards for the meeting out of a hat. Also Jim Rust of the Diversey Corporation presented the technical presentation on "Some Practical Aspects of Brewery CIP and Circulation Cleaning".
August 15, 1966 - At a regular business meeting, after much internal debate, Jim Rust's membership status was changed from Allied to Associate.
November 19, 1964 - At the annual District meeting held "The Friendship Room at the Minneapolis Brewing Co. a motion was made and passed that all Honorary Lifetime Members of the District would not be charged any meeting fees.
January 17, 1963 - At a regular District meeting held in the "Sky Blue Waters Room" at Theodore Hamm Brewing Co. in St. Paul; Frank Frankosky's Jr. application for membership was read and approved.
December, 1957 - The technical session at the meeting was given by Kurt Becker, Vice President of Siebel and Sons Co. of Chicago. The title of the presentation was " Tomorrow's Beers - Will the trend toward light and pale beers be reversed?"
July 18, 1957 - The regular District meeting was held aboard the Tonka Belle on Lake Minnetonka. At this meeting Ray Weisner’s application for Active membership was approved. September 14, 1955 - From the minutes of a regular District meeting; “Let it be known that on July 7, 1955 colleague John B. Beerhalter passed from our midst."
September 23, 1954 - A successful Old Timers party was held. Six members who were members of the District in 1932 were present; Walter Arnold, Milton Heiges, John Beerhalter, Joe Hope, Joe Dinzl and Les Voell.
May 24, 1954 - At a regular District meeting hosted be Rahr Malting Co. held at the St. Paul House in Shakopee, a color film entitled "Fine Malt for Fine Beer" was shown.
March 19, 1953 - At a regular District meeting; Willibald Stirzinger was approved as an Active member.
November 13, 1952 - At the Annual District meeting held in the "Dutch" room of the Minneapolis Brewing Co; Walter Arnold stated that on November 15, 1952 he is retiring from the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co. All members present "hope that the coming years will be years of contentment and joy after all his years of being a master brewer (44 years). At this same meeting, Joseph Bellinger the Brewmaster at Yoerg Brewing Company informed the District that the company has been liquidated.
January 28, 1952 - Richard Hauenstein passed away.
January 24, 1952 - An "Old Timers" party is being planned by the District. All District members that are active brew masters and maltsters with 25 or more years of experience will be invited.
January 18, 1951 - At a regular District meeting a motion was made and passed to submit a letter to the National organization detailing dissatisfaction with National Secretary Allan E. Beach regarding his inefficiency and salary ($12,000).
September 11, 1949 - The regular District meeting was held aboard Dewey Kiewels cabin cruiser.
January 14, 1948 - District minutes begin to appear in a typed form.
May 6, 1947 - Max Rahr passed away.
February 27, 1947 - At a regular District meeting held at Freddie's Cafe in Minneapolis, the technical presentation included a "colored, sound film" showing the hop fields of the Yakima Valley.
December, 1946 - At a regular District meeting a motion was made and passed to allow Allied members to join the Associate and Active members after the regular business meeting. At this meeting Mr. Hilmes of the Diversey Corporation gave the technical presentation.
June 14, 1942 - At the annual picnic held at Vasa Park on the North Arm of Lake Minnetonka. The Allieds trounced the Brewmasters 24-9 in baseball. During the war years the District awarded war stamps as prizes for the many events held during the picnic.
February 7, 1942 - At a regular District meeting a motion was made and passed that suspended the District's annual Dinner-Dance for the duration of the war in accordance with the views of the National President
January 25, 1941 - From a regular District meeting; an invitation was received from District New York for their annual Dinner-Dance February 15 at the Hotel Astor. The price is $6 per person and includes breakfast at 3 am.
April 1, 1939 - From a regular District meeting; a telegram was received for beloved colleague and Honorary President John Aubele. He extended his best wishes from Tucson, Arizona where he was hunting rattlesnakes and selling them to canning factories
November 19, 1938 - From a meeting at Turner Hall in New Ulm; "Meeting adjourned followed by a good old German Supper of sauerkraut and baked, smoked spare ribs and Bohemian bread dumplings arranged by our good friends Al Marti and Hans Hauenstein for the Minnesota Brewers Association who also held their monthly meeting a the same time and invited the Active members of our District to join in. Members of the New Ulm Glee club sang several numbers among which was the ever popular number "I am a Musician". The Mayor of New Ulm gave a hearty welcome to the groups and a very enjoyable time was had by all 58 present."
August 13, 1938 - At a meeting at Peoples Brewing Co. in Duluth, Max Rahr's application for membership was accepted.
December 11, 1937 - From a meeting at the St. Anthony Commercial Club, Minneapolis; Honorary President John Aubele read the minutes of the first meeting of December 14, 1907 just 30 years ago. At the time, five charter members were still active.
December 19, 1936 - From a meeting at the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co. rathskellar; “Discussion was held on the matter of a uniform Bock season but account of the inability of securing cooperation from outside brewers it was felt no action could be taken aside from the master brewer recommending to his superior the desirability of such cooperation through associate sources to gain desired results."
December 14, 1935 - From a meeting at the St. Paul Athletic Club; a newspaper clipping was read quoting Miss Bertha Palmer, the National Director of the Scientific Temperance Institution. She advises that alcohol is one of the three main poisons in the world. The other two being lead and syphilis.
May 1934 – Did you know that in the past, District St. Paul- Minneapolis included Western Canada?
May 4, 1935 – The first recorded mention of a Spring Dinner- Dance
December 10, 1927- minutes of meetings appear for the first time in English. All prior minutes dating to the founding of the district in 1907 were kept in German long hand
April 21, 1934- Silver anniversary Celebration. The event was delayed for 2 years to wait for the repeal of Prohibition. The celebration took place at the St. Paul Hotel with 175 guests in attendance. William Figge was the chairman at the time. A seven course meal ws served while a seven piece orchestra performed. “Those that did not care to dance, played cards or sang.” A gold watch was presented to outgoing president John Aubele of Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co.
