The Development Of Beer Style Guidelines From An Association Perspective.
Abstract:
- Examining the origins of the American Homebrewers Association's first National Homebrew Competition guidelines in 1979. What were the needs of homebrewers then and now as this competition has grown to over 4,500 entries annually.
- The development and evolution of the beer style guidelines that are used for the professional brewing community at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.
- What were the needs of professional brewers in the early days of these events and how are those needs evolving now?
- How do these beer style guidelines provide these needs and how do they continue to evolve?
- A brief look at other International beer competitions.
- What intrinsic value do beer style categories have for brewers and most importantly for beer drinkers?
- What does the future hold for beer diversity both in the USA and worldwide?
