A brief history of beer in Fairmont Park (published in the Fairmount Park Conservancy Newsletter).

There are over 100 members of District Philadelphia representing fourteen brewing companies and about twenty companies that support the brewing industry. We encourage all brewers in our region to participate in MBAA through an active schedule designed address the needs of breweries regardless of their size. On Saturday October 16, 2010 Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia will be hosting our third Saturday Technical Meeting that will focus on the topic of Sensory Evaluation.

You can hear a Sue Henry’s documentary “Beer Gardening in Northeastern Pennsylvania” which aired on Wilkes-Barre’s WILK AM 980 in October 2007. Her documentary is about brewing in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties past and present. The program lasts about 45 minutes and contains interviews with Secretary/Membership Chair Rich Wagner; who spent the day driving around with Sue Henry showing her some of the old brewery sites; Leo Orlandini of the Lion brewery takes her on a plant tour and an interview with Al Kogoy who has an outstanding breweriana collection that includes radio ads from the region’s breweries from yesteryear.
