Approximately 230 members and guests gathered for the annual One-Day Technical Conference at the Wyndam Bristol Place in Toronto on January 28th. The conference commenced with a well attended whiskey tasting led by Hiram Walker followed by the traditional bier stube where members and delegates were able to socialize, m eet old friends and make new acquaintances. The Thursday evening Bier Stube also hosted a few ‘hands on’ displays by Briess Malting and S.S. Hop Steiner.
The Friday technical session included many interesting discussions from several areas in the industry including NIR applications, keg washing technology advances, flavour stability through packaging materials, fermentation problem solving, package staining from pasteurization and energy usage in the brewery. The key note speaker was Dr. Harry White who addressed the membership on the Coors UK ‘Beer Naturally’ campaign.
Other highlights included a luncheon address from our MBAA President and a handing over of the gavel ceremony, as our past MBAC President Joel Manning officially handed over the title to Keith Armstrong.
