Ontario District - MBAC Annual
One Day Technical Conference

Approximately 225 members and guests gathered for the 30th annual One-Day Technical Conference at the Wyndam Bristol Place in Toronto on January 24th. In maintaining the tradition of the one-day, the conference commenced with a beer stube on the Thursday night where members and delegates were able to socialize, meet old friends and make new acquaintances.

The Friday technical session included many interesting discussions from several areas in the industry such as barley breeding, malt outlook for 2003, revolutionary wort boiling systems, innovation in packaging paperboard, the challenge of abundance and electronic sensory technology. The keynote speaker David Ben provided an entertaining but thought provoking performance on the use of magic to relate to lessons in innovation and creativity in our business.

Other highlights included a luncheon address from our MBAA President Frank Kirner and a handing over of the gavel ceremony, as past MBAC President Scott Phillips officially handed over the title to Doug Smallfield.
