October 23-24, 2009
The Riverhouse Resort
3075 N. Business 97
Bend, Oregon
District Northwest held their 158th meeting on October 23rd and 24th in Bend, Oregon. The meeting was hosted by Deschutes Brewery. We had a record turnout of over 220 people. On Friday the business meeting was followed by a barrel aging presentation by Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing. Vinnie's presentation led into a barrel aged beer tasting and panel discussion. Fifteen different barrel aged beers were presented to members for tasting. Brewers from Bridgeport Brewing, Cascade Brewing, Deschutes Brewery, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Laurelwood, New Belgium, Russian River, Sierra Nevada, and Widmer were on the panel to field questions and offer insight into their process. A barbeque and live bluegrass music ended the day. What a way to start a meeting!
