Proceedings:

  • Meeting called to order at 12:10

    • Chad introduces Mark Muncy from Alfa Lavel and Mathew Letki from Canadian malting.
    • It was a great Summer Social. Location, beer, 50-50 raffle excellent
    • Final numbers of the Summer Social Total revenue generated $6385.00, not including scholarship, netting $3665.00 Clearing $2,500. Broke 100 attendees
    • Board vote was in favor of starting a new scholarship to send someone to MBAA brewing school in 2008. Increasing the award from $1000.00 to $3000.00. Winner must be present to win at the Summer Social. Person on ticket must be the one to use scholarship (non-transferable). Expiration date is that year or roll over to next year’s first available class if brewer can’t use in year of award.
    • Sam Sherwood will be hosting the next fall MBAA meeting at the Waldorf on October 23rd.
    • Initiation fees of $15.00 are going to be eliminated in 2008. Dues are going up from $15.00 to $20.00.

  • Break for lunch at 12:45

  • Mark Muncy from Alfa Lavel gave a power point presentation outlining different types of heat exchangers and there use in the brewing industry. Then a more in depth open question and answer discussion followed on disassembly and maintenance.

  • Mathew Letki from Canadian Malting gave a power point presentation on the global malt market. The global economics of malt were discussed with the influence of poor weather conditions in Europe and Australia.

  • Meeting adjourned at 4:01 p.m.
