MBAA Convention Registration Opens This Month |
|
Weizen up at the
MBAA Convention, October 1–4, 2009, in La Quinta, CA! MBAA is doing what we do best—presenting useful blends of practical and cutting-edge technical talks, a variety of hands-on classes and workshops, posters that dig deep into brewery issues, and a
trade show featuring domestic and international suppliers—all in a great environment for networking! Registration will open later this month. In the meantime, block the dates off on your calendar and make plans to join MBAA at the convention in October.

Hi Brewers!
Please visit the MBAA Global Emerging Issues website and click on Topics to see our new
addition on sustainability. “Smart Planning for Climate Change & the Sustainability Imperative” was a presentation given by Owen Glubiak (NativeEnergy, Inc.), Greg Strong (Spring Hill Solutions, LLC), and Morgan Wolaver (Otter Creek Brewing Company) at the 2009 CBC in Boston, MA. The BA gave me permission to post the PowerPoint file. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.

Ask MBAA |
|
The following query was received in the MBAA in box:
My name is Paul Liegeois (Green Bay, WI). At a cabin we own in northern Wisconsin on the Menominee River, we came across some artifacts from the property’s original owner, including a certificate of membership in the Master Brewers Association, with his name, Heinz Hoffman, dated October 1932. It is signed by Marcus Meagerlein, president. I believe the Hoffman’s were residents of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. We know that Heinz Hoffman was born in 1901 in Germany and died in about 1970 in Wausaukee, WI. We also know that the cabin we now own is part of several acres that the Hoffmans owned and that were donated to the Hennepin County Humane Society and later sold and developed after the Hoffmans were deceased. Heinz apparently worked for Standard Brands Corporation, as we also found a 25 years of service certificate dated 1949.
I am curious about the history of your association at the time (1932) when this membership certificate was awarded, especially being during prohibition, and anything you can tell me about Heinz Hoffman. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
