Have you heard about Brewing Summit 2010 taking place June 15–20 in Providence, RI? MBAA and the American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) will co-locate the ASBC Annual Meeting (June 15–18) and MBAA Convention (June 18–20) and will also include one day of combined programming and an exposition that will join the two events (June 17–19). Brewing Summit 2010 is a fusion of both groups’ meetings and will
provide offerings for those interested in brewing science and technology, packaging, processing, product development, and quality control and assurance.

District Mid-South and the Music City Brewers Join Forces for a Charitable Cause |

Members of MBAA
District Mid-South and the Music City Brewers recently held a joint meeting in support of the family of Mark Moynihan, a Knoxville, TN, brewer who was severely burned in an April welding accident and passed away on Tuesday, June 23. Funds raised in a raffle were donated to Mark’s spouse Kim to help cover travel and lodging expenses incurred during her husband’s treatment at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Invitation to Summer Gathering of District Northern California and the San Francisco Brewers Guild |

District Northern California and the San Francisco Brewers Guild will hold a joint summer gathering Friday, August 14, 2009, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Thirsty Bear Brewing Company. Join us for a delicious meal and great beer at one of San Francisco’s finest restaurants and breweries. This meeting is designed for all of us to have some fun (and each other’s brews) in the heart of the world’s finest city! The cost will be only $10 for members; $15 for one non-member guest; and $40 for non-members, additional guests, or late RSVPs. Current membership in MBAA or active employment at a San Francisco Brewers Guild brewery is required for the special rate! A room block has been reserved at the Cathedral Hill Hotel. Rooms are available through July 15 for only $69 a night!

District Ontario to Hold 57th Annual Barley Field Day |

District Ontario will hold its 57th Annual Barley Field Day, hosted by Canada Malting, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the
Elora Research Station. The session is open to all members. Please note, as an additional service, the equipment and procedures needed to perform a sieve analysis on a milled malt sample will be provided. If you would like to participate in a sieve analysis, please bring approx. 1 kg of milled malt from your brewery on which the test can be performed (with your help) and find out how your mill is performing.
