New Technical Quarterly Paper Published

"Comparing Different Rinsing Methods Used During Cleaning-in-Place of Process Vessels to Minimize Water Use," by George Agius and Doug Funnell, has been published in the MBAA Technical Quarterly.

Abstract

Process vessels such as fermentation or aging tanks are usually equipped with stationary spray balls or rotating spray heads to dispense both detergent solution and rinse water during cleaning-in-place (CIP) procedures. Rinsing removes soil or traces of detergent and is performed either by spraying water continuously or by a series of short water bursts until the tank is free of any contamination. Rinsing during CIP can consume large quantities of water.
