Program Objectives

retail clerks, and duty managers looking to expand their knowledge of beer, beer
styles, and proper handling and presentation of beer.

A link to the first five chapters of the Beer Steward Handbook
The Beer Steward Handbook is a peer-reviewed text on CD written by experienced brewing
professionals. The handbook presents a wide range of topics never before collected
in such detail in one text. It is anticipated that this handbook will become the
industry standard for professionals in the wholesale and retail beer industry.
Access to take the online exam
The exam
will consist of 65 multiple-choice questions that are based on the first five
chapters of the Beer Steward
Handbook. Upon successful completion of the exam,
the participant will receive an Associate Beer Steward Certificate from the Master Brewers
Association of the Americas, North America’s oldest professional brewing
association, which is renowned for its work in advancing the brewing,
fermentation, and allied industries since 1887.
Listing on
the Graduates page
Upon successful completion of the examination, the participant will be listed
as a course graduate in the
MBAA Beer Steward website.

retail clerks, and duty managers who want to learn more about beer, its
relationship to human history, how beer is made and the flavors shaped into the myriad of styles across the world, what those styles are, and how
to present them most effectively to customers.
